Platelet rich plasma

It is a therapeutic method which do not requires any surgeries, which means it is less traumatising. In this method of platelet rich plasma therapy the patient does not have to worry about the scars. In this procedure of Platelet Rich Plasma therapy, the platelets of our blood which stimulates the growth of stem cells and other microcells present around the hair follicle are used. In this, almost 20cc of blood is collected and a solution is made by mixing this fresh blood with sodium citrate under proper under laboratory controlled conditions in a tube which is then centrifuged. This centrifuging method helps in the settling down of platelets to settle down at the bottom of the tube. The upper layer containing Poor Plasma Platelet (PPP) is discarded and the lower layer of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is loaded in an insulin syringe containing calcium chloride as an activator. One hour before performing the procedure, an anaesthetic cream is applied on the scalp. The area where the platelet rich fluid is to be injected is first cleaned and sterilised by rubbing some cetavlon, spirit and povidone-iodine.

With the help of insulin syringe PRP was injected over affected area by nappage technique (multiple small injections in a linear pattern one-cm apart) under proper aseptic precaution in minor operation theatre.

Mostly the early signs for the results of platelet rich plasma therapy is , shedding of the old hair which is then followed by the early re- growth and lengthening of the hair.

This procedure is repeated every three to six months, for continuation of growth and stimulation of growth factors and other stem cells present around the hair follicle, which are responsible for the re-growth and minimising of the hair fallout.
